The Witcher: Sword Of Destiny- Book Review

The Witcher: Sword Of Destiny- Book Review

About the Book: The Witcher: Sword of Destiny is the second book in the Witcher Short stories written by Andrzej Sapkowski. The book is originally written in  Polish and is published on 1992. The English edition is published in the UK by Gollancz in 2015.

Sword of Destiny continues the adventures of Geralt of Rivia after the first book, The Last Wish. We follow Geralt as he battles monsters, demons and prejudices alike.

My Review: The Witcher : Sword of destiny is so far my favorite in the book series. I played The Witcher games first, then saw the series on Netflix, then started reading the books. And i am so glad i decided to read the books because the stories in the books are so much better and more impactful than the portrayal of these stories in the series.

The book is easy to read. Andrzej Sapkowski is a brilliant writer. Every battle, every conflict, every emotions are so beautifully written, i could feel the emotions and the conflicts of characters as i read on.. We get a more depth and detailed view of the main characters Geralt, Yennefer and Dandelion in this book. The book also introduces Ciri and she is already my favorite. One of the main feature of the book is of-course the incredible characters in the book. As we read on, we could see the depth of each characters and all the main characters are very thoroughly written that we could see the reasons behind their every action and we an think from their shoes.

There is also some other characters introduced in the book, some temporary characters and even those characters are very well written that we actually feel for them. The book has six short stories, and each stories are very enjoyable and gripping. But, A little Sacrifice is my favorite of them all. It is here a new character Essi Devan, also known as Little Eye is introduces. She is my favorite character in the book. I am not a big fan of romantic stories. I pretty much avoid them. But never have i thought that i would enjoy a little romantic story from The Witcher this much. The character is very well written i have fallen in love with the character instantly. It very emotional and touching that it left a mark on me for a long time. I was longing for more of her by the end of her chapter.

The book is easy to go through if you are already familiar with the characters. Even-though this is not the main saga and you can skip the short stories to read the main story, i cannot recommend enough to read the two short story books first enough because they are amazing and has some amazing stories in them more than a full novel.

Positives: Every little details are very well explained and it is very easy to understand the people around us, our surroundings, and every characters and what they are. The characters are well written and has some amazing and interesting characters in it.

Negatives: There are no negatives i felt when reading. The book is so enjoyable i was always drawn back to the book and finished it before i even knew it.

Overall, it is a must read if you like The Witcher saga. Also recommended if you have liked the Netflix adaptations, because this is far more better experience than the shows. The books is very gripping, Thrilling, Humorous, Touching and Sentimental.

My Rating: 4.5/5
