Tumbbad (2018)- Movie Review: A cinematic Beauty!!

About the movie: Tumbbad is a Bollywood Fantasy Horror movie directed by Rahi Anil Barve, Anand Gandhi and Co-directed by Adesh Prasad. Tumbbad is written by Mitesh Shah, Prasad, Barve and Gandhi. The movie stars Sohum Shah, Jyoti Malshe, Deepak Damle, Ronjini Chakraborty and more in the lead roles.

Tumbbad is a mythological story about a goddess who created the entire universe. The plot revolves around the consequences when humans build a temple for her first born.

The movie says the story of greed and how it can destroy our-self. The movie shows how an ordinary person can turn malicious than a monster through greed.

My Review: Tumbbad is a psychological Horror movie with some strong underlying moral and amazing visuals. The story is about Vinayak Rao, played by Sohum Shah who is greedy for wealth. It is shown as a trait inherited through the family. Which is later passed to his own son. Tumbbad has some strong characters and very good performance.

The best type of horror is the ones that plays with your mind. The horror element is kept in the dark and mystery which provokes the strongest emotions. Tumbbad is a visual treat. It is one of the most visually appealing Bollywood movie i have seen so far. The cinematography makes the movie very visually pleasing and the lighting of the movie is brilliant that most of the elements are kept in the dark for most of the time while enhancing the main focus in the shots.

Positives: Cinematography and Lighting is the main advantage of Tumbbad. It has a lot of great shots. All the actors showed a very good performance. The story is very interesting and the movie has an underlying moral ability greed and how it can destroy our lives.

 

Negatives: The Music was just okay. I felt it would have been even more gripping with a more racy music along with the amazing visuals in the  movie.

Overall, Tumbbad is a moody and atmospheric film. The movie gets very gory at times, so it might be too much for some viewers. The movie is a visual treat and i recommend to watch it on a big screen with high quality.
