Game Over Tamil Movie Review: A blend of psychological and spiritual thriller

Game over is a Tamil movie Released in 2019, directed by Ashwin Saravanan. Written by Ramkumar Kaavya and Suman Kumar. Game over stars Taapsee Pannu, Vinodhini Vaidynathan, Anish Kuruvila and more in the lead roles.

Game over revolves around a game designer who suffers from PTSD and lives alone with her maid. Her life turns upside down after a serial killer enters her house, making her play a twisted game for survival.

Game Over blends psychological and spiritual thriller very effectively making it a spine chilling entertainer. The first half of the movie spends it's time on establishing the character very well and explains her PTSD and the things she is going through, her relationship with the maid in her house and the effect of society on her mental health. Director Ashwin blends elements of video game to the story very effectively which gives it a very fresh and exciting second half.

Game over is one of the most entertaining thriller movie I have seen in a little while. The first half of the movie is relatively slow but it uses its time to establish the character and make us feel connected to the character. Taapsee Pannu did an amazing job is portraying her characters emotions and fears. Vinodhini also did very natural performance as the supporting maid to the main character.

The movie kicks up its pace in the second half as she becomes a serial killer while she is in the worst condition to fight a killer. The movie also blends some spiritual elements to the psychological horror making it very interesting a nd gripping to watch.

Positives: Tapsee Pannu and Vinodhini Vaidynathan carries the movie with their natural and very strong performances. The cinematography and Music is a very big plus in the movie which added very captivating and entertaining. The appearance of the psychopath is very mean-looking and is really well portrayed.

Negatives: The movie felt a little slow in the first half, but it used for establishing the character more effectively.

Overall, Game Over is really well crafted psychological Horror Thriller which also has some spiritual elements and some Video Game elements to it which makes it something fresh out of the Tamil Industry.
